Outreach Leadership Team

Compassionate Justice at Christ Church is coordinated by the Outreach Leadership Team (OLT). OLT is comprised of parish members who meet monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 7:00 PM to review, plan, and fund new community service projects as well as help organize community service activities that have been approved and/or are in progress.

OLT also provides stewardship for the Outreach portion of Christ Church’s annual operating budget. This stewardship primarily involves designating financial donations to organizations that address shelter, food insecurity, and immigration issues locally, nationally, or globally.

We are always looking for more ways to engage in compassionate justice. Please join us!

  • Christ Church puts a high value on practicing compassionate justice and is always looking for new opportunities to be involved in serving those in need in our nearby community and worldwide. Current activities include:
  • A Free Little Pantry located near the front of the church that is kept stocked with various food items
  • Assembling Food and Hygiene Packs that parishioners can have in their vehicles to distribute to people asking for assistance at stop light and other street locations
  • Regular participation in community events such as the Hunger Walk with the Emergency Food Network, and the administration and stewardship of the Outreach Trust Fund
  • Many of our members serve their neighbors on their own initiative as participants in Habitat for Humanity, AID Northwest, Court-Appointed Service Advocates (CASA), Breakfast Service at Urban Grace, Planned Parenthood, L’Arche, Emergency Food Network, and Associated Ministries Housing Coalition – to name but a few.

Come join us as we walk alongside our neighbors in need.

Did you know that there are roughly the same number of men and women in Washington state prisons as there are churches in Washington?  The question is, what if every church or parish became a local reentry team – a resurrection community – to walk alongside just one neighbor leaving the tombs of incarceration?

We are modeling what resurrection can be for one inmate.  Prior to her release, we are visiting our friend, providing emotional support, and getting to know each other.  After her release, we will walk her journey outside with her, providing financial, emotional, and logistical support.  In short, we will give her the Christ-centered love we are called to give.

Jesus commanded us to care for those in prison. Come join us as we answer that call!

One Parish One Prisoner (OPOP) is a program run by Underground Ministries.
