A Community of Tacoma

About Us

We are a community that seeks be authentically kind to one another, that is full of thoughtful and curious people who share a common desire to practice compassionate justice in Tacoma, and are renewed by sacred beauty

We are learning to follow the way of Jesus, the way of life-giving love and liberation for all creation.

As Episcopalians, we are anchored in a centuries-old tradition that is ancient yet new, ritualized yet relaxed, transcendent yet intimate, reverent yet filled with life. While some of us have been Episcopalians for all of our lives, others found The Episcopal Church only recently.

We are straight, lesbian and gay, queer, trans, cis, white, black, latinx, asian, and the doors of Christ Church are open to everyone, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, socio-economic circumstance, or religious background or beliefs.

Christ Church is an urban congregation that aspires to radical hospitality: this altar is open to everyone – no exceptions.

A critical part of our vocation is telling the truth about why we’re here:

We gather at 310 North K Street, on the ancestral lands of the Puyallup and Nisqually people. Their descendants live among us still. For their wise stewardship of the creation, we offer our gratitude, and in we are committed to using this land for the flourishing of all that is the Creator’s. May we never forget that their land was taken by force and broken treaty.
