Thoughtful Curiosity
At Christ Church, we are are disciples of Jesus, seeking to practice loving, liberating, and life-giving community in relationship with God, each other, and creation. We believe that being formed into God’s image is a lifelong and intentional practice of learning, growing, changing, together. We also believe that spiritual formation is rooted in a thoughtful curiosity about God, creation, one another, and the society in which we live.
Curiosity keeps us open to a world in which God is always present and active in often new and unexpected ways. Thoughtful formation aligns our spiritual traditions alongside the wisdom and insight of science and contemporary scholarship.
Adult Formation
Adult Formation at Christ Church is a shared practice of learning, praying, and acting together. It includes Sunday morning educational forums (generally September-Pentecost on Sundays at 9am in Wells Hall), retreats, quiet mornings, seminars, and a monthly book reading group that invite participants to find meaning, deepen spiritual maturity, and practice justice and compassion in our daily lives.
Children’s Formation
We do not currently have many children in our community. Those we have are always welcome in our liturgy, wiggles and all, and we are prepared to offer Godly play when we have a critical mass. You and your children are welcome!
Sunday Formation Classes
Our topics vary by the time of year and liturgical season. In September we focus on being in relationship with creation. Topics in the fall and winter vary based on interest and our growing edges as a community. Typically in the Lent and Easter season we return to our roots as Christians and Episcopalians in a series of classes for life-long Episcopalians and those exploring, perhaps for the first time, what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
