Authentic Kindness

At Christ Church the core of our mission is to practice loving, liberating, and life-giving community, Authentic Kindness is about relationship. It is how we describe Jesus’ ministry of hospitality and radical inclusion, and our own call to be his arms of welcome in this sometimes unkind and difficult world. It is a practice because it is intentional, thoughtful, and something we do consistently. It is also something we need to practice because we need to learn how to love one another well. We want to ensure that every person who encounters Christ Church for the first time is offered a warm and personal welcome, and we want to help all members of our community find ways to go deeper in relationship with God, one another, and all creation.

Newcomers

Visiting us for the first time Christ Church sits on the border of multiple distinct Tacoma neighborhoods, and we aspire…

Practicing Community

Friendships at Christ Church are built over meals, playing, working, living, and loving together. We gather over (good!) coffee and nibbles every Sunday after each morning service. We share soup and salad once a month at Evening Prayer at Table, and we work together to celebrate special occasions with feasts!

Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care is the heart of our kindness at Christ Church, caring especially for those who are in acute or ongoing need, as well as for those with celebrations. The Pastoral Care team includes card writers, telephoners, dedicated “pray-ers,” home visitors, and Lay Eucharistic visitors, a group dedicated to bringing Communion to those who can’t get to church.
