A Community of Tacoma

Linda Johnson

Junior Warden

My parents, Edith and Wolfram (Red) Abicht, raised me in the Episcopal Church. I was baptized as an infant at Saint Mary’s Lakewood. We started attending Christ Church Tacoma in 1968. Highlights of my childhood and youth ministries included singing in the Junior Choir and helping Elin Gratton teach Sunday School. Len and I were married by Rev. Patrick Tomter at Christ Church Tacoma in 1985. Christ Church is deeply embedded in my soul.

Highlights of my adult years at Christ Church include participating in many of our community service
ministries including 3 Cedars/AHAT (both as a volunteer and board member), Family Housing Network
hosting’s, and Emergency Food Network “Hunger Walks”. My other current ministries include, Building and Grounds, Gardens, Greening, OPOP, Altar Guild, and Ushering. Len and I were married by Rev. Patrick Tomter at Christ Church Tacoma in 1985. Christ Church is deeply embedded in my soul.

I retired from the Weyerhaeuser Company after a 35-year career in Customer
Service and Sales. I have the ability to organize and convene teams with attention
on the interpersonal connections of the team members. My life is currently
focused on the service I can provide to Christ Church Tacoma, the care of my
mother Edith who is living in memory care at the Weatherly Inn in Tacoma, and
time with family and friends.

I also am a member and currently serve as Treasurer
for a guild that supports fundraising for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. I love
being outside, with hobbies that include golf, skiing, sailing, and gardening.
I’m willing to serve on Vestry, with a focus of leading our Building and Grounds
efforts.
