A Community of Tacoma

Great News – FOB Hope is back doing their service to unhoused vets!

FOB Hope is the organization that ran the Veterans Village that we have been supporting with monthly dinners, and other activities, since April 2022.  Earlier this year, due to disagreements with the City of Tacoma and lack of funds, they had to close the Village.  They continued to provide food packs to the vets living outside, which we supported, until they were unable to do even that and had to let all of their staff go.

But Tammy Creley, the Executive Director of FOB Hope, never gave up hope.  She continued providing the food packs on her own while working with Pierce County on alternatives.  This month, they got funding from the county and corporate support, and are back in business!  They are operating out of offices in Puyallup that they share with New Hope Resources, and have rehired staff from their previous operations.  For now, they are providing the food packs and making referrals for services and temporary housing, with some successes in very difficult times!

The even greater news is that they are on track to open a new Veterans Village in early 2026!

Of course, Christ Church and the OLT (Outreach Leadership Team) are on board!  Using funds that were allocated to OLT, we were able to purchase food to fill 80 food packs, and have items left over for more.  These were delivered on April 14, and Tammy was delighted!  We spoke to some of the staff and they are so happy to be back and serving our vets.

It is people like Tammy and her staff who put joy in our hearts and inspire hope.  And it is the good people of Christ Church who help to enable their efforts.  Thank you so much!!
