Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross is an ancient rite tracing the pathway of Jesus on the day of his crucifixion, with accompanying prayers.  It is still observed, especially during Lent, in many Western Christian churches, including Episcopal and Lutheran.  Faithful Christians make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ.  The meditations along the way closely mirror the Gospel accounts.  Our stations of the cross here at Christ Episcopal church are quite striking; the copper enamel panels in the sanctuary were designed and made by artist and parishioner Jean Tudor.  During Lent opportunities are available to walk the stations and meditate on the sacrificial path Jesus took.

Below is a sampling of each station. You may view the full booklet with prayers and descriptions here.
