The Vestry Vestry is a 3-year commitment to discern and support the Christ Church community through shared wisdom, shared work, and shared leadership alongside the Rector of the parish and other lay and clergy ministry leaders. All Vestry members commit to a Behavioral Covenant, are expected to attend all Vestry meetings (currently the 3rd Tuesday of each month, 6pm, at Christ Church), a Vestry Retreat (typically in February or March), and actively work to implement the mission of the Church. The Buildings and Grounds Committee supports our Vestry, Congregation and Priest by assisting with the stewardship and safety of our Christ Church Tacoma facilities and landscape. Together with our Junior Warden, Sexton and Parish Administrator, B&G works to prioritize, plan, and make arrangements for the projects that maintain and improve our buildings and grounds. Projects are determined based on discernment of how God is calling us to utilize our sacred grounds in the near and long-term future. The committee manages our buildings and campus, organizing parishioners for hands-on maintenance and repair tasks and identifying vendors for jobs requiring professional expertise. For major projects, the group engages consultants as needed, directs development of the scope of work, submission of bids, selection of contractors, and the project timeline. The Garden Team cares for the campus grounds, designing and tending our gardens, planting, pruning, weeding, fertilizing and watering. Contact: Linda Johnson, [email protected].
The Finance Committee monitors the financial status of the parish, provides financial advice to the Vestry, prepares the annual budget for the Vestry’s approval, organizes the yearly business practices review required by the diocese, and directs the work of the Sunday offering counters. The Stewardship Team seeks to expand our understanding of stewardship as care not only for all that God has entrusted to us at Christ Church but also for all of God’s people and creation through our sharing of expertise, energy, imagination, hope, prayer, and financial resources. The Team manages the annual fall pledge campaign, legacy giving, fundraising events, and special giving opportunities for thanksgivings and memorials. Contact: Brianne Knudson, [email protected].
