Keep/Watch for Suicide Prevention: Becoming a Community of Care

Do you want to help build a church community where people support one another’s mental health? Have you wondered what to do when a friend or family member is experiencing suicidality? Christ Church Tacoma is hosting a four-week series to reflect on ways our young adult community can normalize mental health conversations while learning tools to prevent suicidality and intervene in active suicidal behavior. We will use a curriculum from the Keep/Watch Project, an Episcopal program, facilitated virtually by Project Director Holle Tubbs. Holle (she/her) is a writer, speaker, and ministry leader who currently serves as Director of Youth Ministries in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.

The group will meet virtually on the following Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00 PM
July 28th
August 4th
1-week break ~
August 18th
August 25th

This series is part of a larger pilot project around mental health trainings sponsored by The Episcopal Church, which will help the church develop curated resources for leaders seeking to support young adult mental health. As part of the pilot, workshop series participants will fill out a brief evaluation form of their experience at the end of the series. This data will help the church recommend trainings to fit a variety of young adult ministry contexts, including parish-based young adult groups, campus ministries, and service corps programs. We are excited to partner with the Keep/Watch Project and The Episcopal Church to host this training.
