Report on CCD June 2025
The College started off with a deep dive with a session called “Anglicanism,” based on a book by Paul Davis. Among the subjects covered were Both/And Thinking and Spiritual Modesty. Both/And Thinking challenges me to look at protestant AND catholic, tradition AND innovation, and this life AND the next life. What is Spiritual Modesty? My mother would say, “Get off your high horse, you don’t know everything.” So maybe Spiritual Modesty means listening to someone’s different spiritual experience. Perhaps you could say, “I was wrong,” “I need help,” “I wonder…”, “I’m sorry…”, “How might my practice be off-putting for others?”, “What do they see that I don’t see?” Paul Davis also emphasized the importance of community. Our Christ Church six bonded as a little community in the College. We will work together to build up the community in Christ Church as we go forth to love and serve our neighbors.
