Hello everyone, I’m Eric Figueroa, the new Residential Caretaker. I started last week and my goal is to make our community life clean and safe. When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the outdoors, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or watching classic movies. One of my favorite quotes is from Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home.” I love the idea that we are all on a shared journey, supporting each other through life’s experiences.
From Mother Maria:
Eric Figueroa has joined our staff as the new Residential Caretaker. You may see him walking around the campus and helping out on Sunday mornings. The core of his job is: “to monitor the buildings and property for health and safety issues, manage trash and recycling and control access.” At 18 hours a week, Eric will do morning and evening rounds to keep an eye on the building, and will help open up and lock the campus on Sundays. With Linda, the Junior Warden, Eric is a point of contact for major building emergencies (fire, break-in, flooding), but is not hired to provide security outside of being a consistent and friendly presence. His periodic maintenance duties will be supervised by the Rector in partnership with the Junior Warden. We still have a cleaning team that comes in twice a week (Monday and Thursday mornings) to care for our heavily used spaces. Coffee Hour setup and cleanup remain in the hands of Coffee Hour teams, and please lock up after yourself!
Eric has already done a great job stepping into his role, please introduce yourself when you see him!
