About
I was born and raised in Los Angeles County, where I was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 1969. My family took lots of camping trips in California’s beautiful state and national parks; I’ve been an environmentalist since the 11th grade and started the first Ecology club at my high school in San José.
I was educated at public universities in California and New York, and after changing majors a few times, I earned a Ph.D. in Music History with a Certificate in Women’s Studies from Stony Brook University. I’ve recently retired from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, as Professor Emerita, and I remain an active scholar.
Arrival at Christ Church
Alyce Schaffer, whom I met on a walk, introduced me to Christ Church some time when I was only living here in the summers, maybe 2019 or so.
Fun Fact
I was the Peace and Freedom Party nominee for Governor of California in 1974 (I was twenty-one). It’s a good thing I lost because I really didn’t know anything then—just another smarty-pants poli sci major.
