Safe Church Universal Training

Saturday, October 19 at 9:00 am12:00 pm

The Diocese of Olympia has developed the Safe Church, Safe Communities program to guide and enhance a culture of safety and inclusion for all people around issues of vulnerability, power, and healthy boundaries.  This educational program is specially designed to equip leaders and active ministry participants with essential learning needed to live out their Baptismal Covenant.

If you have been vested with a door key for Christ Church, you are required to complete the Safe Church, Safe Communities training.  The training is available online at the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia website, https://ecww.org/safeguarding-trainings/.  Upon completing the Safe Church, Safe Communities training, you will receive a certification of completion, which is valid for three years.

Alternatively, for those who may prefer to complete the required Safe Church obligation in a group setting, we will offer a “hands-on” training class on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Christ Church.  Senior Warden Van Hardison will lead the training which will last 3-4 hours and will meet the Diocese’s requirements. Once you complete either training, the Diocese will provide Christ Church with an updated record.  Stay tuned to The Weekly for further information.

I trust that you will feel free to contact me if you have any questions concerning the training or need further clarification
