Seeking Another Way: Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Resistance to Corruption, and Living the Sermon on the Mount
Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
We are glad to welcome Dr. Mark Brocker to the Christ Church Public Lecture Series. An expert in the life and writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer — the German Lutheran pastor, resister to the Nazis, and martyr — Dr. Brocker will speak on Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship – his world-famous reflections on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). Dr. Brocker will place Discipleship within its context: a legally elected yet corrupt political administration and the passivity of Christians concerning their spiritual and civic responsibilities. Dr. Brocker’s presentation will begin promptly at 7:00 PM in Wells Hall. There will be time for conversation with Dr. Brocker at the conclusion of his presentation. Donations to support Christ Church Public Lectures will be gladly received at the door.
