It is extremely unusual not to celebrate a Eucharist on Sunday. We make this difficult decision so that no one will even try to make their way to church on icy roads and in extreme cold. Our concern is for the safety of all.
Some church websites are emphasizing that they “NEVER” cancel Sunday worship services and simply advise anyone considering attending to “use caution.” Our concern is that conditions this weekend are unpredictable enough that it’s not really possible to be wisely cautious. Local authorities advise us all to stay off roads and streets to avoid accidents, facilitate snow removal and assure passage for emergency vehicles.
Saint Mark’s Cathedral’s website says it will livestream the 11 a.m. Eucharist “if staff are available.” You can check at saintmarks.org.
To enjoy Sunday morning prayer with hymns on the internet go to http://www.missionstclare.com/english/. If we were all to go to that website at 10:30, we would be a community at prayer together across the snowy expanses outside our windows. After Morning Prayer, you might go to the home page to enjoy reading how the Mission of St. Clare was started, and then have a look at the picture of the mission!
The Annual Meeting will be rescheduled and we will let you know the new date as soon as possible.
We will gather for Compline again on the Second Sunday of March.
